Redesign ‘Introduction’
until June 2024
In 2024, we will be redesigning the ‘Introduction’, the first room of the permanent exhibition, for you. Until June, you can constantly observe small and large changes here while the museum continues to operate.
Redesigning part of the permanent exhibition takes a lot of time, which is why we cannot show a special exhibition this year.
View of the exhibition
The central theme of the ‘Introduction’ will be the UNESCO World Heritage Ore Mountains/Krušnohoří Mining Region. terra mineralia is linked to this theme in several ways: On the one hand, the exhibition is located in Freudenstein Castle, which is a nominated World Heritage property. On the other hand, the exhibition is part of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg. As the oldest still existing mining school in the world, it is also part of the World Heritage Site with all its famous teachers and inventions.
We would also like to pay tribute to our founder Dr Erika Pohl-Ströher at this point. At a separate station, we show what an extraordinary collector she was and what significance her mineral collection has for the university.
Very close to research
Experience up close and personal how a research project is carried out at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg. Planning, experiments, problems and results from the ‘ZauBer - future materials from mining sludge’ project show how research is carried out at a university.
