Family Tour

Through the museum at night

Equipped with a headlamp and UV torch, you can explore terra mineralia in the dark. On an exciting tour through the dark exhibition, you and your family or friends will look for fluorescent minerals hiding in the showcases. In our "Journey into the Light" we then observe the different types of luminescence and marvel at the incredible variety of colours.

In the hands-on laboratory "Research Expedition" you can then get to the bottom of the phenomenon of fluorescence. In various experiments, students from the TU Bergakademie Freiberg explain what light is actually made of, where ultraviolet light, which is invisible to humans, comes from and what other forces can also trigger a glow.
